OverviewThis job is very straight
forward and very important. It is mainly
through your work that students and community members become aware of events at
CCAT.
DutiesPosition-Specific Duties- Making Flyers:
It is important to make these flyers both attractive and clear. If the images are good, but the information
is hard to read or innacurate, then the flyer is not adequate. CCAT has a large file of old flyers that can
be used as a template with only slight modifications. For each event, print ~45 copies. Flyers must inlude:
- a) Name of Event
- b) Date and Time of Event
- c) Place of Event
- d) Contact Information (CCAT's phone # 826-3551)
- e) Associated Students logo
*Optional information:
- a) CCAT logo
- b) name of sponsoring and collaborating organization(s)
(CCAT)
- c) name of presenter
Important: All flyers must be printed on re-used
(one-sided) paper. This paper can be
found in abundance in computer labs, or at the library copy center (used color
paper). To save CCAT printing costs, we
ask that you print all flyers in the university computer labs. If unsure how to do this, ask a co-director
for assistance.
- Posting Flyers - For each event, post 30 flyers
around campus and 15 in the windows of Arcata businesses (the ones with
bulletin boards). Some examples: Arcata Community Recycling Center, Solutions,
Redwood Peace and Justice Center, North Coast Environmental Center, Sacred
Grounds, Muddy Waters, Redwood Yogurt, Café Moka, Tin Can Mailman, Moonrise
Herbs, Outdoor Store, Don's Donuts, Wildberries, and the Co-op. On-campus flyers must be stamped at the
Info Desk (in the University
Center building) before
posting.
- Special Events - When CCAT hosts special events,
we try to put up a banner above the HSU Quad.
To do this, a space must be reserved at the info desk a number of weeks
in advance.
- Communicate with Co-directors and other employees - In
order for our program to proceed efficiently, it is important that everyone
involved communicates with everyone else. Please keep the co-directors and
others informed of what you are doing, any help you need, or ideas you have to
enhance CCAT's publicity efforts. There is a notebook to record the hours you
work and what you did, along with your timesheet. Since you will often work off site, you can
keep a personal log of hours worked and what specific tasks you did, to be
turned in with your time sheet
