Maintenance

Overview

The CCAT Maintenance position ensures the smooth operation of CCAT's Appropriate Tech systems and functions.

You will work together with the Co-Directors, the Groundskeeper, and other Physical Site personnel to maintain a clean, working, professional and beautiful CCAT.

Duties

Regular Weekly Duties

Completing, upgrading, and maintaining the CCAT House, Library Lounge, and Grounds:
  • Maintain CCAT's workshop space
    • always put tools away in their proper place
    • keep tools organized and accessible
    • dust and sweep regularly
  • Maintain CCAT's tools
    • keep inventory of what tools CCAT has
    • take note of any missing tools
    • research and recommend tools that CCAT should purchase
    • test and maintain power tools (oiling, cleaning, etc.)
  • Tour grounds to ensure all projects and systems are operating properly
  • Check project list and update list
  • Sweep, mop, empty trash, recycling, compost, and help clean up as needed

Other General Duties

  • Make recommendations to the Fundraiser of tools or materials that could be donated to CCAT
  • Make recommendations and do research for new projects
  • Become familiar with projects around the CCAT grounds through research and investigation
  • Document successes and failures for future generations (usually on Appropedia)
  • Coordinate with physical site employees on grounds projects
  • Check maintenance projects with engineer technician when needed
  • Coordinate with Groundskeeper on tool maintenance and grounds projects
  • Check with Co-directors for project priorities and future plans
  • Get community, faculty, or local businesses to mentor big projects

General CCAT duties for all employees

  • Attend regular employee and branch meetings
  • Assist in tabling and outreach efforts
  • Assist in the preparation of volunteer and employee meals a few times a semester
  • Assist other employees, volunteers, and Co-Directors as necessary

  • Must be an HSU student during your employment

Schedule and Pay

  • 8 hours / week
  • $10 / hour $2,240/year
  • Flexible scheduling, to be coordinated with Co-Directors and Physical Site branch
